Two new articles and some coming attractions.

It's been a while since I've added a blog post, so here are a few updates.

First, in the past couple of months, I published two articles.

The first was on Jesus's act of sitting down as a way to rest. A minor incident? Maybe. But it tells us something important about the nature of Christ and what it means to be a human. Read it here:

He Sat Down - The Living Church

And the second was a review Martyn Percy’s The Crisis of Colonial Anglicanism: Empire, Slavery and Revolt in the Church of England. This was published in the print edition of The Living Church. I haven’t yet seen a link for it online, but if you are subscriber to this wonderful magazine you can find it the April 5, 2026 edition on page 38

Then some engagements coming up quickly:

On May 2nd, I’ll be offering a webinar for Communion Partners Canada on the subject of “Loss in the Christian Life”, drawing from some early research for a book project I am working on. While the talk is for an organization (one that I really believe in) located in Canada, since it is online, anyone can attend. If the subject interests you, please consider registering.

Plus, I am writing an article for our St. Basil Symposium for the Center for Pastoral Theologians that will be meeting in early May. This one is about preaching as an ecclesially-embedded practice. I’ve been reading a lot of Martin Thornton for another paper (more on this below), and will be using his description of the English School as a springboard for an ecumenical discussion on preaching within one’s ecclesial home.

Finally, The Martin Thornton readings have been primarily about preparing for a talk I am giving at the Breck Conference at Nashotah House for June 17-19. If you love Martin Thornton, pastoral theology, or Anglicanism (especially of the Anglo-catholic variety) or simply want to spend some prayerful time in a beautiful place, you ought to come!
