Death in the West through the Ages
A new article out at Mere Orthodoxy
I have a new piece out over at Mere Orthodoxy tracing some of the ways Christians have thought about death throughout the centuries.
You can read it here.
I've been thinking a lot about death over the past few months (or maybe years?). This is evident in a lot of my recent scholarship and writing. I am not really sure why it's been such a focus, though I think grappling with the pandemic, the decline of the Anglican Church of Canada, and the grind of pastoral ministry all have something to do with it.
The essay I feature here is a little patchy - as any shortish historical argument has to be - but I think it pulls out some important threads.
Hope you enjoy it!
